The irony that the "liberal" member of the Toucher, Jimmy, and Leslie show is married to Republican political operative Lisa Baron has not been lost on 99XWatch.org. To be honest, however, I thought it was more of a matter of local interest. That's why I was a bit surprised to come across this piece from the inside the beltway gossip column "Reliable Source" in Thursday's Washington Post.
[Lisa's Sunday Paper column is n]ot exactly what we'd expect from a close associate of the standard-bearer of family-values conservatism. But Baron sees no conflict between her work for Reed and her "Committed" column -- the sexy stuff is all of the intra-marital kind, vignettes from her relationship with husband Jimmy Baron , an Atlanta DJ -- who, she notes, had been airing lots of intimate details of their life together on his popular morning radio show.
Perhaps a bit less surprising, given the slow news cycle leading into Christmas, is that the excellent, widely read blog Think Progress picked up on this and contrasted some choice bits from Baron's Sunday Paper column with Ralph Reed statements.
I've always been of the opinion that when my friends on the left make fun of anyone who breaks the stereotypical conservative mold, they do so at their own peril. I'm also of the opinion that the best thing that could happen to Lisa Baron's career would be that she gets fired from the sinking ship that is casino lobbiest, friend to the indicted Ralph Reed's campaign. My guess is that this tempest in a teapot will have blown over by the time Lisa returns from vacation in Belize her family's five-day Mexican cruise*, and she will not be that lucky.

I had assumed, it now appears—incorrectly, that Lisa was scuba diving in Belize with Jimmy.
