TJ&L show intern, Sebastian Daskawicz-Davis announced on his blog that he "got a call Wednesday afternoon from Wally. [he was] suspended from the show for two months."
Wow, two months. It must have been something pretty bad, right? In a previous post, Sebastian writes:
So, I am scanning around for a minute or two, looking for something besides commericals or music, and find the crew at Q100 talking about sleep deprivation. My only job is to call up, and recognizably work in the name of one of our show members with the story.
Bert comes to me, and talks about his sleep problems. I then go in to my story something like this:
'Bert, I totally agree with you. I am doing my residency at a hospital right now, and they only give you these two hour breaks between on-call times. You sit there and try to sleep, but you just can't. It makes your mind play ticks on you some times. For instance, today I could've sworn I saw Jimmy Baron come in for an abortion four hours ago, but then I thought I saw him come in for another like 20 minutes ago.'
...
Cut to a few minutes later, Bert comes in our studio to confirm that I
did it, even though I was certainly not going to bring it up around any
of their show. I apologized, told him how much of an ill-thought-out
and rash decision it was, and he left.
So, their show is pissed
at me, (not the TJL show, because they had nothing to do with it), and
I realized the error of my ways. Any commentary after that will never
be posted publicly, as hopefully this will go away. I already have a
guaranteed three months on The Bert Show Shit List, I am sure.
Wow. Two months for a prank phone call. If there is a god, and she is just, then there will be a special place in hell for second tier market DJs who feed their egos by getting interns suspended. Particuarly those whose schtick is to act senstive.
Update 1/12/2005 7:30 AM.
Changed "middle market" to "second tier market" as Atlanta is not a middle market. Thanks to an observant reader for pointing this out.
