From Jimmy Baron's MySpace Blog:
I got a call last week from Jason Insalaco, the Program Director of 1069 FreeFM asking if I'd do an audition shift on the station today (Sunday) and I immediately developed prickly heat. See, I've been in love with this format since before it was even called this format. Growing up in Chicago listening to the likes of Steve Dahl, Kevin Mattews, and Jonathan Brandmeier made me realize that people can hear music anywhere, but entertaining personalities and people who can evoke some kind of emotional response -who you can call up and talk to - can ONLY be found on radio. Moreover, having lived for 13 years in California, I was lucky enough to make enough trips to the Bay area to know there's simply no place better on the map. So the opportunity to do a show in a city as great as San Francisco is truly beyond my wildest dreams. Bottom line: I'm 44, have been doing major market radio for 16 years, but today, Sunday March 12, I am NERVOUS AS CRAP!
...
My situation is thus: my contract with WNNX expires on April 5. I was told by the new owners that they would like to keep me on in the AM and they have been speaking with my agent for the past month or so to draw up a new deal. I can not go into the details of negotiations but I will when all is said and done. While that goes on, I am within my contractual rights to seek other opportunities and, while I feel incredibly connected to the fabric of 99X and the city of Atlanta, there are some phenomenal opportunities that I'd be crazy to pass up. Free FM is an FM talk format that I believe is the format of the future in radio and it is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Moreover, the people at CBS have shown me fantastic support and encouragement, and I am jumping out of my skin at the thought of potentially being part of their family.

Jimmy edited his blog and took out much of the detail you see above.
