Thanks to a reader who provide me with the following:
From the Atlanta Business Chronicle, page 8A, April 21-27 issue, article entitled "May deal will propel Cumulus into top cities," by Sarah David Spears"..Dickey also said that the retirement of popular radio personalities Jimmy Baron and Fred Toucher on 99X was unrelated to the station's change in ownership. He said Cumulus would conduct a national search to replace Baron for 99X's morning show, and that they were aware the deal would likely be an expensive one. 'We'll be looking for the best person to fill Jimmy's spot, and we'll spare no expense in finding them,' Dickey said."
Jimmy responds on his MySpace.com Blog:
There is an article in this weeks Atlanta Business Chronicle about Cumulus Broadcasting in which CEO Lew Dickey claims my retirement from 99X was unrelated to the station's ownership change.
Let me be very clear about this when I say that that comment is an absolute 100% LIE. I want you to understand that there is no other version of the facts other than what you will read on this blog. I swear on the lives of everyone who ever meant anything to me on that, as the Lord is my witness.
Meanwhile 99X is still representing to listeners and advertisers that Jimmy is still a part of the show.
