Toucher and Rich Dominate Boston Afternoons

The Boston spring ratings book came out today, and Toucher and Rich are the #1 afternoon Show for men, 18-44. Their ratings exceed the nearest rock competition's by more than 25%.  This book represents a more than 67% increase in the key demo from the previous ratings book.  They are #3 in persons 18-34.

"Perrynoid" to join Giant Brian Show...probably

I got passed along an audio of an XM show called Ron and Fez where a contributor of theirs by the name of Perrynoid announced last week that he was joining “Giant” Brian Carothers on Project 9-6-1, presumably sometime next month. Here’s the audio.

(Oddly, boss Chris Williams sent me an email Tuesday morning denying this guy is coming to Atlanta or even joining the Giant Show. So if this was some elaborate trick or joke, it sure doesn’t seem to have any real payoff.)

Sean Demery was going to the "grocery store to get string cheese, diet rite cola and nectarines."  And Perrynoid, a tertiary character from  the Ron and Fez show, is not joining the Giant Brian Morning Show.  If Chris Williams confirms this, than we write about it and it's done.  If he denies it, the discussion goes on for weeks.

Toucher's Cousin Questions Dem. Presidential Candidates

Mary and Jen(Toucher's Cousin), of tapping on the glass fame, were among the questioners whose videos were aired in tonight's CNN / YouTube Democratic Presidential Debate.

Dickey to Attempt LBO of Cumulus

From this morning's AJC (via Radio Talk)

Top management of Atlanta-based Cumulus Media, one of the nation's largest operators of radio stations, wants to take the company private in a deal valued at $1.3 billion.

The planned buyout was announced Monday morning. It is being led by Cumulus' top executive, Lew Dickey. He and the Dickey family plan to take control of Cumulus in partnership with Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity.

The deal would pay Cumulus shareholders $11.75 per share. Cumulus said the offer is 40.4 percent higher the closing price of Cumulus shares Friday.

Barnes Settles with Everyone Except Toucher

Barnes vs. TJ&L is now Barnes vs. T.  According to an order by Judge Julie E. Carnes:

On July 11, 2007, plaintiff's counsel, Arthur Gardner, orally advised that the above entitled action has settled with all of the defendants, except Fred [Toucher].

Toucher's motion to dismiss has also been ordered reactivated. 

Toucher and Rich, Improper Bostonian's "Best PM Drive DJ's"

Improper Bostonian, an entertainment / lifestyle magazine,  has named Toucher and Rich "Best DJs: Afternoon Radio."

It's clear that they try their damnedest every single day to create a funny show, and over time they've developed some great bits--the Drunken Red Sox Recap, the Chili Guy, sending Adolfo out into the city just to be Adolfo.  Tune in to WBCN some weekday between 3 and 7 pm, and you might be surprised to find that Opie and Anthony are actually the second-funniest DJ duo on 104.1

Project 9-6-1 Gets Morning Guy

According to Rodney Ho's Radio + TV Talk, Project 9-6-1 has named "Giant" Brian Carothers it's new morning guy, slated to begin sometime before the beginning of the Fall Book (my guess is August 6, 2007).  Carothers has been Philadelphia radio icon John DeBella's cohort.  If you're interested in getting a preview of what the No longer all that New Morning X's competition will be, he'll continue to be on The DeBella Show until July 27.
