99X has launched a web page, presumably sent to advertisers, where it contrasts a clip from The Giant Show with one from The Morning X. This isn't a new tactic. Stations did this to Howard Stern. WAAF did this to Toucher and Rich. Generally, the safer, more middle of the road station does this to the edgier radio station, essentially saying our ratings may be worse, but do you really want to associate your brand with that?
The thing is, this tactic is usually done in conference rooms at the local auto dealer. It's rarely done publicly like this. Does 99X really want to be that radio station? I'll confess, I'm a bit too old and/or liberal to actually think The Giant Show's bit was funny, but I have zero interest in listening to the Gallant of rock stations.
